Christmas on the Bayou was founded in the spring of 2000, and was the brain child of our fearless leader, Captain Crazy Craig Nicholls, or C3N (his Star Wars name since he is.. OUT THERE somewhere). One evening, hard at work, partaking of his favorite beverage at the GYC (that's his job), C3N got to thinking..(an extraordinary undertaking for C3N) .. Would not it be wonderful if I should cause to exist a lighted boat parade. (He thinks like this when he's hard at work) Parents could accompany their children at a viewing area where they would gaze with amazement unto my sparkling creation; and folks that reside on the banks of the bayou could perpetuate exuberant festivities along the waterfront. Judges could hold challenge for the best decorated homes; and at the conclusion all revelers could gather posthaste in jubilant celebration; and render unto each other rewards for the most dazzling of the participants. They would hoist me upon their shoulders and cry out "Hurrah for C3N!"; for it would be I who was responsible for their new and glimmering aquatic Christmas Cheer. I shall found an organization of peoples of common cause, and its name shall be "The Bayou Bernard Boating Club, Inc." I will establish token officers who shall bend to my will, praise my ideas, and elevate me to ecclesiastical heights. My Vice President shall rubber stamp my espousals and my Treasurer will be denied the official scrolls of accounting, but shall sign legal drafts without question as I dictate. Therefore thus forward, I shall be known as the Grand Pooh-Bah of the Bayou, the 21st Century Bayou Bernard Beau Brummell (21CB4). . And so it came to pass that the club was formed, the officers were placed, and the First Annual Christmas on the Bayou Lighted Boat Parade rolled upon the waters of Bayou Bernard in December of the year 2000. The parade was a grand success; and thus began the annual tradition. |

Craig Nicholls did start this whole thing. Craig and a lot of others work hard every year to raise money and organize this extravaganza. It is hard work, but it is also very enjoyable. We hope everyone has as much fun as we do! Our Thanks to all of you!.. we couldn't do it without sponsors, participants, spectators, and local Official Agencies. Check Out Credits Because of You.. our dream has been realized. Merry Christmas |
